The 2018 Midwest Genetics Network’s Annual Meeting was held on October 1st and 2nd at the James B. Henry Center in Lansing, Michigan. Fifty stakeholders from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin and included representatives from; state public health, genetic service providers, primary care providers, and family representatives.
On the first day, the participants received an update on the Midwest Genetics Network from the MGN leadership and HRSA. Each workgroup presented on the past year’s progress in addition to the future direction of their workgroups. The first day ended with the Health Equity, Telegenetics, and Provider workgroup in person meetings.
On the second day, representatives from each work group reported on their meetings and had discussions with the meeting participants. The meeting ended with two plenary presentations, one from the National Coordinating Center and its nationwide update. The second was an introduction to the Inborn Errors of Metabolism Collaborative Stakeholder Network.
