2020 Meeting

The 2020 Midwest Genetics Network’s Annual Meeting was held virtually on September 29th and 30th due to COVID-19. Over 100 stakeholders from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin and included representatives from; state public health, genetic service providers, primary care providers, and family representatives.

On the first day, the participants received an update on the Midwest Genetics Network from the MGN leadership and HRSA. The National Coordinating Center (NCC) presented on the efforts of the NCC and Regional Genetics Networks. Discussion centered around the integration of ACEs into Genetics work and Project Echo. The first day ended with a “Social Hour” for family representatives.

The second day included some workgroup progress over the past year in addition to the future direction. The discussion involved unexpected opportunities/successes from COVID-19, PKU LTFU, and MGN successes. The meeting ended with MGN closing remarks.
